Alphonse Mucha 2020 Wall Calendar Details
Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860–1939) believed that beautiful art improved the quality of life, and he felt it was his duty to promote art for ordinary people, not just the wealthy. While he created many advertising posters and calendars for champagne, chocolate, biscuits, and the like, he also pioneered a new genre of decorative panels (panneaux decoratifs), posters without words that were a precursor to today’s art posters. From 1895 to 1900 he established himself as the master of the art nouveau poster through series focusing on nature—the seasons, flowers, gems, the arts—all with harmonious colors and decorative elements, flowers, and beautiful women in diaphanous gowns. Several of the images in this calendar are from those series, designed to elevate and inspire the viewer. All of Pomegranate’s calendars are printed with soy-based inks on FSC® certified paper, which means the paper has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® and manufactured by an FSC certified printer. FSC certification promotes responsible forest management by ensuring that forestry practices are environmentally responsible, socially equitable, and economically viable. FSC license code FSC N001864.

Reviews
Buying a calendar online can be tricky since you can't really evaluate the quality of the pictures and printing. I buy a Mucha calendar almost every year. I've had a few bad experiences with bad paper and poor color reproduction by other manufacturers and I've learned that Pomegranate is a safe bet. Their paper is heavy and glossy and will take pen and marker well. The color reproductions are always good. This year's offering has some works I hadn't seen before which was an unexpected treat. My only caveat is Amazon's shipping which is usually terrible. This one came loose in a too-large box and was fine (thankfully) but there's no guarantee they won't get a bit banged up.
